Weekly Updates

Greetings Kirby Comets! I can hardly believe that we are about to start the last week of school for the 2019-2020 School Year! This will definitely be one for the history books and one that us nor our students will soon forget!

Thank you parents for your support and engagement this school year, we certainly would not have made it without you!

Personal Item Pickup

Students are required to return their borrowed materials starting May 27th. This includes all textbooks, library books and other borrowed items. During this time, students will also pick up items they left at the school, including personal items left in gym lockers. Please note that if you borrowed a computer or internet hot spot for online instruction during the school year, we will not be collecting those items at this time, except for students not returning to a DCPS school.

  • In order to safely allow students on campus, and comply with social distancing guidelines, each student has been scheduled to come to the school during a designated window of time.
  • Parents must place a piece of paper with the child/children’s first and last name on the passenger side of the dashboard
  • The collection of materials will occur through a mobile collection process. Families will not be able to walk-in to pick up or return materials. Again, the process for picking up and delivering materials will be by vehicle only.
  • No walk-ups will be allowed (If you do not have a vehicle or if you are unable to come to the school at the designated time, please contact Ms. Velvet-Allen at velvet-allenf@duvalschools.org to make other arrangements)

Families who have members of their household who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days or who are exhibiting symptoms of illness such as fever, cough or shortness of breath are not permitted on campus but should contact the school ’s main office for further instructions.

Elective Request Forms

Elective Request Forms were made available for students last week by their Language Arts Teachers. If your child has not completed his/her elective requests for the upcoming school year, please have them do it today.

Please keep in mind that the elective requests are requests. Core classes and interventions for those students who need them, are always our very first priority. We will try our best to honor student requests.

Attention 8th Graders

According to state of Florida mandates, all 8th graders were required to complete a high school academic plan on career shines.org by last Friday, May 15.  Please help us by ensuring that your student completes this requirement. Students have been provided with detailed instructions on how to complete this assignment through their social studies class.
If you or your student have any questions please contact their school counselor, Mrs. Hoffman.  Mrs. Hoffman can be reached  at 904-428-8306.
